2010 - I worked for a small, local [now-defunct] magazine called Su Voz Latina. It was very much the type of place that you’d do way more than your job required and you’d still never know what was happening. Chaotic? Yes. Educational? That, too.
Later that year, a few coworkers and I left to start our own online publication, The Stanton Magazine. Between the three of us, we shared the tasks of creating/editing an entire publication. We were geared toward the “next-gen” of El Pasoans who wanted to bring positive change and growth to our city. While we all loved it and learned so much from it, after a year, we all went in different directions and shut the website down.
2011 - I decided to move to NYC and quickly found a PR job with a very small agency, GRB Communications. The two of us worked hard to help launch a decades-old Spanish luxury brand, Delpozo, in the US. Along with chaperoning the designer on his visits to the city in preparation for the show, I was able to work with editors from all the big fashion magazines plus, the learning experience of ALL the things that the fashion world encompasses is absolutely invaluable. We launched their first US show in the spring of 2012 to rave reviews.
2013 - after returning to TX to deal with my mother’s cancer diagnosis, I found work with a small design agency. At the same time, I was selling cold-pressed juices out of my home. After a year of trying to juggle the two, I left the agency and opened my brick-and-mortar juice shop, Mom’s Fresh Juice.
